In this course we researched and proposed art and architecture that embodies evidence. The course challenged and expanded the reach of artistic and architectural tools, methods and languages. We moved outside of disciplinary boundaries in order for art and architecture to become living witnesses to our changing world. Deploying their disciplinary expertise, students investigated the climate crisis.
The course took Salt City Harvest Farm in Kirkville as the site of investigation. Salt City Harvest Farm is a nonprofit organization that provides farmland and support facilities for New Americans, or recent immigrants, of the Onondaga community. The farmers are from Bhutan, Congo, Somalia, Eritrea, Burma and other nations and regions, and they grow crops that are difficult to find in upstate NY.
